Evaluation of Analgesic Activity of the Siddha Polyherbal Formulation Ettikottai Mathirai Using Eddy’s Hot Plate Method in Mice

Background: Ettikottai Mathirai (EM) is a classical Siddha polyherbal formulation traditionally used to manage pain. Objectives: Evaluate analgesic potential of EM using Eddy's Hot Plate method in mice. Materials and Methods: Vehicle control, Pentazocine (5 mg/kg) standard, and EM low and high doses (8.5, 17 mg/kg) tested. Results: Dose-dependent increase in latency observed; high dose comparable to standard. Conclusion: EM exhibits analgesic activity suggesting central pain pathway involvement; further studies recommended.
