About us
We publish peer-reviewed scholarly journals, open access, with the metadata and permanence that scholarly work depends on.
What we do
We operate a portfolio of peer-reviewed journals across the pharmaceutical, biomedical and natural-product sciences. Each journal keeps its own editorial board, scope and standards, and is run by the editors who know that field.
Our role is the publishing infrastructure around them: peer-review administration, production from manuscript to typeset article, permanent identifiers, distribution and long-term availability.
Open access
Every article we publish is free to read from the day it appears. There is no subscription, no paywall and no registration required to read the research.
Authors retain copyright in their work, and each article states the licence it is published under.
Built to be found
An article that cannot be found has not really been published. Every article ships with complete citation metadata in the page itself — not added afterwards by a script — so indexing services and reference managers read it correctly the first time.
- Highwire Press, PRISM and Dublin Core citation metadata
- Schema.org structured data for search engines
- A registered DOI and a stable, permanent URL
- Machine-readable sitemaps and feeds for every journal
Corrections and the version of record
Published research is a record, so we treat it as one. Corrections are versioned rather than silently overwritten, the original deposited file is retained, and an article that changes after publication says so.
