Reading is anonymous

You do not need an account to read anything published here. We do not require registration, and we do not sell reader data.

Our servers keep short-lived technical logs — IP address, request path, timestamp, user agent — which we use to keep the service running, diagnose faults and detect abuse. They are not used to build a profile of you.

Cookies

Public pages use only cookies that are strictly necessary. Signing in to an editorial account sets an authentication cookie, which is required for that account to work and is removed when you sign out.

Information you give us

If you submit a manuscript, correspond with an editorial office, or hold an editorial account, we process the contact and professional details needed to run peer review and publication. Author names and affiliations appear on published articles — that is the point of publishing them, and it is permanent.

We share personal data with third parties only where it is necessary to publish and distribute the work, for example registering a DOI, or where the law requires it.

Your rights

You can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and in some circumstances ask us to delete it. Contact us and we will respond.

One limit is worth being direct about: the scholarly record is permanent. We cannot remove authorship or bibliographic details from an article that has been published and cited, because doing so would corrupt the record for everyone who relies on it.
